Wingspan: 35-44mm

A univoltine species that overwinters under the shelter of loose bark or similar, flying from September to early May. It is attracted to light and has been frequently recorded from the traps at Las Descargues and those of the plateau broadleaved woodland.

The larva feeds on various trees and shrubs before pupating in late summer underground.
