Wingspan: 21-24mm

A bivoltine species flying from May to early July and again in August and September. An occasional visitor to light it has been recorded at all the Las Descargues lights and those situated in or adjacent to the plateau woodlands, it has yet to be recorded from the Causse.

The larva feeds on Sambucus, Viburnum, Heracleum, Peucadanum, Daucas carota, Solidago etc. it overwinters as a pupa in plant detritus or the first few centimetres of soil.
