Cydia fagiglandana (Zeller, 1841)

Wingspan: 11-19mm

Imago: Bivoltine, on the wing from May to the end of June and again in July and August. A frequent visitor to light it has been recorded from Las Descargues and the broadleaved woodland of the ridge. The moth is a pest species of beech and sweet chestnut.

Larva: Feeds on the seed of Fagus sylvatica, Castanea sativa and more rarely Quercus spp. The larva of the second generation hibernate over winter before pupating in the early spring.
