Prays fraxinella (Bjerkander, 1784)
Ash Bud Moth
Imago: Bivoltine, flying from late May to mid-September, it visits light and has been recorded from Las Descargues particularly from the trap beneath our large ash Fraxinus excelsior where it can be very common. Elsewhere it is encountered wherever the foodplant grows.
Larva: Feeds on Fraxinus excelsior initially from a mine in the leaf then in autumn it transfers its attention to a twig where it mines the bark. Pupation takes place in a sheltered part of the foodplant.
