Hecatera bicolorata (Hufnagel, 1766)

Broad-barred White
La Noctuelle sereine

Wingspan: 28-35mm

A bivoltine species flying in April and May and again in July and August. A regular visitor to light recorded from traps situated in or near rough, calcareous grassland and woodland margins.

The larva feeds on the flowers of Sonchus, Hieracium, Lactuca and Prenanthes spp. Overwinters as a pupa below ground.
