Wingspan: 40-55mm

A plurivoltine species on the wing from February to December. Visits light throughout the year and has been recorded from all habitats and sites.

Larva is polyphagous on herbaceous plants but as a nocturnal feeder it is rarely encountered in the wild. Pupa are reddish-brown, pupation takes place underground in a flimsy cocoon.
