Scoliopteryx libatrix (Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan: 40-48mm

Imago: bivoltine - June and July then August to May, it is attracted to light but is more commonly found feeding after dark on berries. Also recorded from outbuilding and caves in winter often abundant.

Larvae: feeds on Populus and willow species. Overwinters as an adult, pupation takes place between two leaves spun together.
