Tischeria ekebladella (Bjerkander, 1795)

Wingspan: 8-11mm

A univoltine moth with adults flying in May and June occasionally into early July when conditions are right. Adults have almost certainly been overlooked at Las Descargues but the mines are seen in July, August and September on oak and sweet chestnut. The species favours broadleaved woodland where its foodplants are found.

Eggs are laid on the upperside of Quercus and Castanea sativa, larva produce a while, elliptical mine where they feed and pupate. Overwinter as larvae before pupating in early spring.
