Pieris rapae (Linnaeus, 1758)

Small White
Le Petit Blanc du chou

Wingspan: 46-55mm

A species with as many as five generations on the wing from mid-February to mid-November. Common throughout the region in a variety of floristically-rich habitats, meadows and unmanaged grassy places.

Larvae feed as a pest species on the Brassicaceae, but also found on Capparaceae; Tropaeolaceae; Resedaceae and Chenopodiaceae, hibernates overwinter above ground in rocky walls, fences etc.
