Wingspan: 42-58mm

A bivoltine or even trivoltine species on the wing from late March to October or even November in a good year. Occasionally recorded from Las Descargues but more often seen on the Causse and other lowland habitats. A species of dry calcareous grassland, rocky slopes and open scrub.

Larvae feed on Hippocrepis comosa, Coronilla varia, Anthyllis gerardi, Astragalus monspessulanus etc. Hibernates as tiny larvae.
