Wingspan: 26-31mm

A biivoltine species on the wing from June through to October when it is a frequent visitor to light. A species with wide habitat preferences, woodland, heathland, unmanaged meadows, gardens and hedgerows.

The larva feeds on willows, birch and bilberry. Overwinters as an egg before feeding in spring, pupation takes place in plant detritus.
